Great Costume Influences From History... Bob Mackie: The Carol Burnette Show...

This guy is kind of a Big Deal when it comes to Costume Design
and this post could drag out for weeks.

Lets start with The Carol Burnett Show!

By far, the most famous Bob Mackie design from The Carol Burnett Show was from the "Went With The Wind" sketch.  This genius design perfectly complemented the comedic writing.  It's just such a great example of what costume designing is all about.  He was able to bring the comedy written on the page to another level.

"Starlet O'hara"

Here's a pic from the show...

Bob Mackie talks about designing for "Starlet O'hara"...

"Charwoman"
aka "The Cleaning Lady"...

"Nora Desmond"...

"Mama Harper"...

And then there's this adorable pic of Bob and Carol together...

Bob Mackie has been nominated for 3 Academy Awards and has won 9 Emmy's!
Next Wednesday we will find out about more famous ladies he has dressed.
